Cat CARE, TIPS & ADVICE

Happy healthy cats require good owner knowledge and understanding. Here you can read about basic cat care, tips and health advice to help you keep your cat happy and healthy.

If you are a new cat or kitten owner, this is a great place to start and get yourself familiar with the basics of feeding, litter boxes, general health, and safety.

  • Cats need plenty of human attention and companionship.

  • Cats require regular, healthy and suitable meals with a constant supply of fresh and clean water.

  • Provide a nice, clean and comfortable bed/sleeping area for your cat. Include a fluffy blanket that helps facilitate kneading which brings comfort to your cat, as well as make its bed cosy.

  • Cats need to scratch. To prevent your cat from scratching your furniture and curtains, provide them with scratching boards and mats in various parts of the house.

  • Cats require a litter box/tray with cat litter to dig and eliminate. Cats are known to be very clean animals therefore a litter tray that is frequently cleared and cleaned is essential to your cat's wellbeing.

  • Invest in a durable cat crate that you will require for vet visits or if you like travelling with your cat. We recommend cat crates over cat bags as they are much stronger and won't fall apart as easily as bags.

  • It is essential your cat has a stimulating and safe environment with hiding spots to play, rest and sleep.

  • Groom, deworm and deflea your cat/s regularly. Long-haired cats require daily grooming.

  • It is important to spay or neuter your cat between the ages of four and six months old to prevent the birth of unwanted kittens that lead to overpopulation of strays or abandoned cats.

  • Take your cat/s to the vet when it shows any sign of being unwell.
